Learner Logbook
The purpose of the learner logbook is to make the assessment process more manageable for both Learner and Assessor, and to ensure that the exit level outcomes and assessment criteria have been adapted into learning modules.

The logbook is to be completed by the Learner and is vital to the assessment process as it indicates the progress that the learner is making towards meeting all the assessment criteria.
All SETA, SAQA or NQF accredited learning is based on OBE (Outcome Based Education, also known as Common Core Education) that includes 30% theory and 70% practical learning. The 70% practical learning also includes workplace experience and evidence of this must be submitted with your file. Workplace experience is something you learn/practice/practically do/watch someone else doing/research at or in your workplace/volunteer/with someone else/on your own/research through the internet/with a friend.

A typical learning programme SETA, SAQA or NQF accredited programme  that is based on OBE includes:

o DELIVERY: Learner receives the learning resources.
o SUPPORT: Support that is provided to the learner after the delivery.
o WORKPLACE EXPERIENCE: Learner had the opportunity to gain experience on the learning received or was able to practice it in the workplace.
o ASSESSMENT: The process that is followed to assess the learner and determine if they are competent or not-yetcompetent through projects, assignments, written test or any other form of test that is in most cases collected in the form of a workbook or POE (Portfolio Of Evidence).
o FEEDBACK/EVALUATION: A standard manual feedback document is included at the back of each learning programme that should be handed back to the facilitator.
